In 2013, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) published a study -- (open the link to read the full study) according to which Baby Boomers are a lot sicker than the generation of their parents, despite advanced medicine and longer life span.
“Despite their longer life expectancy over previous generations, U.S. baby boomers have higher rates of chronic disease, more disability and lower self-rated health than members of the previous generation at the same age,” explained study’s authors, and their leader, Dr Dana E. King, a professor and chair of family medicine at West Virginia University in Morgantown.
AD develops differently in people. In some patients, it progresses slowly and does not affect mental function for several years. In other cases, it is aggressive and largely affects patient’s memory and mental capabilities. Eventually, AD becomes so severe that it disrupts everyfay life.
