People have always been enchanted by the stars shining from above, most of which reside in dense groupings, known as galaxies. There are billions of galaxies in the Universe, and they can be of various sizes and shapes.
Japanese artists Hiromi Sato had our fascination with the stars in mind when she created her impressive cups. Namely, they convert into mini galaxies whenever you add in a clear liquid, and every sip you take will take you to a space tour through galaxies!
“The universe that expands when you pour it”
Sato called her creations “Chuu COCORO”, or “space heart” and Sansaku sells them online.
Here is their description:
“a work that has been painted with the unique texture of stainless steel processing technology and oxidation coloration in Sakai City, Niigata Prefecture by Hiromi Sato, a traditional craftsman in Niigata and Shirane Butsudan.”
Each cup measures 2 inches tall and can hold up to 1.25 oz of liquid each. They are made with a stainless steel tumbler, and Sato paints them, adds texture, and adds a lacquer finish. To achieve the starry look, he tops them off with gold dust.
Then, adding a clear liquid inside, like water, tea, or vodka, magnifies the unique design.
Yet, being simply irresistible, they have sold out almost immediately, and Sato informed interested clients:
“We have received many inquiries from customers, but the production is not in time. Due to the nature of the work, time must be received before delivery. Please wait until the situation where you can resume sales here.
This is because the quantity that can be manufactured is extremely small and there are too many inquiries. We will sell a very limited quantity here for the sake of prioritizing the production that Satomi Hiromi will exhibit at the Lexus Takumi Connection venue in Kyoto at the end of November. ”
When available, the unique cups sell at 10,800 yen (US$99.91) apiece. The price can be expected as each cup has been hand-painted, and the process of making them takes a long time.
So, are you interested in a drink that tastes like heaven too?
It is still unclear when they will come back in stock, nor whether they will ship the cups overseas, but make sure you keep an eye on their website for news of a restock.
