The more sugar-laden juice you give to your children, the more opiates circulate through their body, and the result is craving for another juice box. And you can be sure that your kid will not touch that dinner after drinking all those calories.

You must be aware of the fact that too much fruit juice can sometimes cause tooth decay, diarrhea, and flatulence. The nature has given you a variety of healthy foods rich in the vitamins your children need. What is more, healthy foods do not contain a lot of sugar and calories. Your children do not need that juice, you can bet on that.

The American Academy of Pediatrics introduced this guidance covering the subject of the juice consumption. If you have a child, or know anyone who can find it helpful, this guidance is something you should pay special attention to.

You should not introduce fruit juices to an nfant before it is 6 months old, unless your physician says otherwise. However, small amounts of fruit juice are occasionally recommended, especially as a treatment for constipation.

For children between 6 months -6 years, fruit juice is no better than a whole fruit. Whole fruits have a higher nutritional value and also provide enough fiber and other necessary nutrients.

But, If you still think that your kids should drink fruit juice, never allow them to have a sippy cup, bottle or box of juice with them throughout the whole day. Limit the intake of fruit juice to 4 to 6 oz/d for children 1-6 years old. Children aged between 7-18 years should not drink more than 8-12 oz or 2 servings per day.

Of course, these recommendations are for 100% fruit juice, which does not apply to any other juice drink. Fruit drinks often have little or no nutritional value.

Yes, we are all guilty of buying some juice boxes for all those birthday parties and similar gatherings. They are easy to use, the kids are happy, and of course, they are a lot healthier than soda.

But, a simple glance at the box will not help you see if it is moldy -- you can tell that only when you start drinking the juice. What is even worse, sometimes you will not know until you have finished the whole box.

So, maybe ice water is something you should offer for the next soccer game. If the kids start complaining, make sure you have some good snacks in the kitchen.
